I had the loveliest road trip to a fabulous wedding venue recently. Hannah Hall – an amazing Lake District wedding photographer – invited me to join her and a team of talented wedding suppliers at Ghyll Barn for a styled wedding photoshoot.
Sneak peek – preview images from Hannah Hall at Ghyll Barn
Hannah sent over preview images super quickly – and they’re absolutely out of this world. Everything from the couple’s look, outfits and hair & make up (by lovely Megan and Amanda, who were both really welcoming and smiley!) was perfect. Models Katie and Isaac kept smiling ALL day long, despite the cold – and having made it up to rural Cumbria through snow and ice, over the hills!
I’ve known Hannah for a year or so now, as we’ve worked together to feature her weddings on the English Wedding Blog. (I’m the editor of English Wedding when I’m not busy with my calligraphy pens!) Hannah’s unique brand of vibrant, raw and honest wedding photography is right up my street. She’s also a lovely person, has another business as a commercial photographer and works her socks off creating beautiful images full of heart and soul. She suits Ghyll Barn perfectly: this ethical, sustainable, eclectic venue is a haven for creative and adventurous couples planning relaxed weddings.

Everyone who came to Ghyll Barn was really friendly, and it was lovely to meet up with wedding friends from around the county. Julia Tasker’s dresses were divine, and it was fab catching up with Kelly from Wren Cakes – after years where our cakes and calligraphy crossed paths more often than we did in person!
Daisy from Rocke n Roses is fantastic, and her arrangements with hellebores and hydrangeas were stunning. (She and Hannah worked SO hard all day – they’ll pour their hearts and souls into weddings and I’d recommend them any day!) Willow & Fig’s Tiphanie is super lovely and kind; Julie from Lune Valley Crockery Hire told me lots of things I didn’t know about glassware and hire for weddings – hiring is definitely the future!
Emily from Juni Jewellery has been sharing gorgeous snippets from the photoshoot on instagram, and I have to say without her the stationery arrangements would be far less beautifully done – she styled my vow booklets alongside her bridal necklaces and earrings and made them look spectacular.
And last of all, I’m still beaming from meeting Juliet Golding, Cumbria’s very own lovable and charming wedding celebrant. Juliet brought oodles of personality and love to the day, shared her instagram tips and read the sweetest poem for Katie and Isaac’s handfasting and photos in Ghyll Barn’s ceremony space!
We celebrated with pizza by lovely Grace at Super8. Honestly, if there’s a trend I want to see grow and grow for 2025 weddings, it’s the pizza van. This one, specifically! Everyone was raving about them, and we all went home happy, carrying pizza boxes full of joy!
So here are some of my favourite photos from the day – these are only the early edits and I am VERY excited to share the rest…
