Wedding calligraphy for a vineyard reception

Amy’s wedding calligraphy was a delight to write. I knew the wedding would be gorgeous – with little Reserved signs in calligraphy for chair backs, and cork holders for the wedding place cards.

Simple, beautiful wedding place cards

My wedding place cards are plain, high quality white or ivory card. I supply them either folded or flat. Amy chose the flat cards, with a corner ribbon in a very rich blue organza. Don’t they look fabulous with her cork place card holders?

Custom wedding reception calligraphy

While the main website shows my core wedding calligraphy services, I also work on bespoke items and unique calligraphy items for wedding receptions. These ‘Reserved’ signs for the backs of chairs at the wedding ceremony were a lovely personal touch!

If you’d like to discuss wedding calligraphy items – anything from escort card tags for your wedding wishing tree to a hand drawn map or alternative wedding guest book, then please get in touch. Send a quick email to hello@calligraphy-for-weddings.com and we’ll be delighted to chat about your ideas.

I was of course delighted when Amy shared her photographs of the wedding calligraphy, and I’m so pleased I can show you too!

Gold leaf wedding calligraphy

Real gold leaf calligraphy

I’ve been working with a lot of gold leaf on my wedding calligraphy orders recently. Having just finished an order for Pure Gold Calligraphy I’ve finally ungilded my hair and face (it gets messy!) and thought it would be nice to show you some gold leaf work in progress.

Ruby wedding celebration calligraphy

These were individual calligraphy place settings, written not for a wedding reception but for a ruby wedding anniversary dinner. My parents celebrated forty years together in December, and my Grandma, along with me and my sister, organised a celebration for them. Nothing but the very best for my Mum and Dad!

I’m always happy to take calligraphy commissions for other special occasions: most of my work is for weddings, but I also write paper wedding anniversary poems and calligraphy place settings for special celebrations. Please contact me with your enquiry and I’ll be very happy to help.

Kate and Marcus’s gorgeous wedding calligraphy photos

I was over the moon when I saw these beautiful wedding calligraphy photos from Kate and Marcus’s big day. Wedding photographer Ed Peers has kindly given permission for me to show you his photos of Kate and Marcus’s wedding calligraphy:

Wedding calligraphy review

Kate’s mum, the lovely Christine, worked with me to get all the details for the wedding calligraphy just right. I really enjoyed writing all Kate and Marcus’s calligraphy – and Christine gave me such charming feedback: “We received the place cards etc and all look really marvelous. Kate is thrilled with them… Your calligraphy has become an important part of Kate’s wedding and there have been many wonderful comments.

Kate and Marcus’s wedding reception calligraphy

I did all the calligraphy for Kate and Marcus’s wedding reception. The photos show custom made wedding breakfast menus (tassels provided by the bride and groom!), wedding place cards, table name cards in holders and wedding escort cards in calligraphy.

Wedding escort card calligraphy for Kate and Marcus

The escort cards shown below were all handwritten, and Christine added the badges and ribbon when they were finished. So I knew exactly where the calligraphy should be written, Christine sent a little mocked-up escort card with a circle drawn where the badge would be tied.

Escort cards are becoming more and more popular in the UK (soooo much easier for couples to arrange than a table plan!) – if you’d like to find out more, please visit my escort card calligraphy page.

All of Kate and Marcus’s wedding calligraphy was written in my own Freestyle Script.

Simply because I prefer writing in Spencerian and Copperplate calligraphy styles, I don’t include this style on the website any more. If you’d like a sample, please feel free to ask! Click to read our Contact Information

wedding place cards vintage rustic calligraphy

Rustic vintage wedding place card calligraphy

Did you know we can provide you with rustic paper place settings for your wedding? We use textured papers with a soft torn edge to create a rustic, home made place setting for each of your guests.

Rustic wedding place settings with calligraphy from the UK

While many handmade papers are unsuitable for calligraphy, our cards provide you with the best of both worlds: these are wonderful little place settings which look fabulous with handwritten guest names in Copperplate calligraphy.

They’re ideal for a vintage wedding theme too: calligraphy by its very nature has that timeless elegance which harks back to the days when ladies and gentlemen were taught that a ‘fair hand’ would make all the difference in making a good impression.

We think there’s a little truth in that! Find out more about our rustic wedding place card calligraphy or email hello@calligraphy-for-weddings.com (with your wedding date) to ask for a sample.

Luxury wedding calligraphy service

Anisa asked us to write her wedding invitations in calligraphy, and to address her envelopes in beautiful Spencerian script.

Wedding invitations printed in a calligraphy style, to which guest names were added later

The stationery Anisa sent was of exquisite quality – a cotton rag card, very smooth and soft, and with hand torn edges to the invitations.

The cards were printed with a rich brown ink, so our calligraphy was written in a similar earthy tone to complement the overall tone of the invitations.

Calligraphy samples for weddings

If this is the first time you’ve ordered calligraphy, you’re not alone! Most of our customers are ordering for the first time, and we’re often asked how the process works.

Ordering calligraphy for your wedding – samples

The first step in ordering calligraphy for your wedding is to see a sample. We always recommend asking for a sample of our calligraphy so you can see the quality of our work for yourself.

Calligraphy samples on your stationery – whether you’re sending us your wedding invitations, asking us to address your envelopes or enquiring about wedding place card calligraphy – allow us to test the suitability of your card for our calligraphy pens and inks.

Most cards are suitable for calligraphy. Smooth, heavy papers and cards are best. An uncoated surface is recommended. Very occasionally we find a rustic card (especially those sold by Cox & Cox) are unsuitable for calligraphy. Some pearlescent and glossy surfaces don’t allow absorption of ink.

Please email hello@calligraphy-for-weddings to ask for a free calligraphy sample. Our full contact details are here: calligraphy-for-weddings.com/contact-information
